The offer
What Eversource actually pays
Eversource runs two different home-charging programs that both tightened in 2026 — and both now require managed-charging enrollment. Massachusetts (from March 2, 2026): standard-rate customers get up to $700 toward wiring or panel upgrades; discount-rate customers get up to $1,700 total toward wiring, panel work and the charger itself; customers in environmental justice communities get up to $1,000 toward wiring or panel upgrades. Connecticut (from January 1, 2026): the $1,500 upfront charger-and-wiring rebate is now limited to income-qualified households — at or below 300% of the Federal Poverty Level, or living in High Poverty, Low Opportunity census tracts. In both states, enrolling your charger in Eversource's managed-charging program is a condition of the upfront money.

EV rates & charging rewards
Plans: Managed charging (demand response) — required for upfront rebates · EV rate options vary by state.
Managed charging pays ongoing participation incentives on top of the upfront rebate, in exchange for letting Eversource nudge charging out of peak events. You can usually override individual events — read the current terms for your state.
Do it right
How to apply, step by step
Step 1
Identify your tier first: MA standard vs. discount rate vs. environmental justice community, or CT income qualification (≤300% FPL or HPLO tract)
Step 2
Pick a connected charger from the managed-charging compatibility list
Step 3
Complete the permitted installation, separating wiring/panel costs from hardware on the invoice — the caps treat them differently
Step 4
Enroll the charger in managed charging (mandatory for the upfront rebate)
Step 5
Submit the state-specific application with invoices and, in CT, income documentation
Rules, rebates, and incentives change. Verify with the official program before applying.

Eversource — frequently asked questions
How much is the Eversource EV charger rebate in Massachusetts?
Since March 2, 2026: up to $700 toward wiring or panel upgrades for standard-rate customers, up to $1,700 total (wiring, panel and charger) for discount-rate customers, and up to $1,000 toward wiring for customers in environmental justice communities. Managed-charging enrollment is required.
How much is the Eversource EV charger rebate in Connecticut?
Since January 1, 2026, the $1,500 upfront charger/wiring rebate is limited to income-qualified households — at or below 300% of the Federal Poverty Level or living in a High Poverty, Low Opportunity area — with managed-charging enrollment required. Standard-income CT customers no longer get an upfront rebate, but can still earn managed-charging incentives.
Is managed charging mandatory for the Eversource rebate?
Yes, in both states as of 2026: MA made it a condition on March 2, 2026, CT on January 1, 2026. Your charger must be a compatible connected model enrolled in the program; in exchange you also collect ongoing participation incentives.
Did the Eversource charger rebate get smaller in 2026?
It got more targeted. CT's previously broad $1,000–$1,500 rebate is now income-qualified only, and MA restructured into rate-based tiers ($700/$1,700/$1,000) with mandatory managed charging. If you qualified under 2025 rules, re-check — don't assume the old amounts.
